Healing begins with presence
More about me
My path to this work wasn’t linear. Before becoming a therapist, I spent more than a decade in high-pressure corporate leadership — managing large teams at Amazon and Citi in New York. I know what it’s like to hold everything together on the outside while quietly unraveling inside. For years, I lived with chronic pain, self-criticism, and patterns of self-neglect disguised as achievement.

My healing began when I stopped trying to fix myself and started listening to my body. I learned that pain — physical or emotional — isn’t a sign of brokenness but a call for presence. Through somatic and trauma-informed practices, and later through Pain Reprocessing Therapy, I found a way to soften, to trust, and to live without constant inner battle.

Today, I bring that same approach to my clients. I work gently, at the pace your nervous system can handle — helping you learn safety in your own body, release chronic patterns of fear and control, and rediscover the quiet strength of simply being.

My work is rooted in compassion, scientific understanding of the mind-body connection, and deep respect for your lived experience. Whether we’re working through trauma, chronic pain, emotional overwhelm, or the exhaustion of always striving, my goal is to help you feel at home in yourself again.
" I believe change happens through gentle curiosity, safety, and presence. My role is not to “fix” you, but to create space where your own inner wisdom can guide healing."

Ways to work with me today
Individual Mental Health Counseling in New York State only
I offer individual mental health counseling for adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, chronic stress, nervous system dysregulation, chronic pain, or challenges related to life transitions, identity, meaning, and authenticity.
Sessions are collaborative, paced, and grounded in present-moment awareness. Our work may include exploring emotional patterns, bodily responses to stress, self-criticism, or relationship experiences, and developing greater capacity for regulation, insight, and choice. Rather than focusing on quick fixes, therapy supports a deeper understanding of what is happening for you and how to relate to it with more steadiness and self-compassion.
My approach integrates person-centered, existential, somatic, mindfulness-based, and parts-oriented perspectives, with practical tools when helpful. The focus is on supporting emotional regulation, clarity, and meaningful change in a way that feels respectful and manageable.

I provide services through Sugar Maple Counseling and work under the supervision of a New York State–licensed clinician (Valerie Smith, NY
License #097242) , as part of the licensure process. Insurance billing is handled through the practice.
Individual Somatic Coaching 50-min
Supporting you in exploring emotions, body awareness, and nervous system regulation. Together we work with gentle, body-based practices that help you notice patterns of tension, emotion, and thought as they arise. Sessions may include guided mindfulness, grounding techniques, breath awareness, and movement exercises designed to bring relief and a greater sense of connection to yourself.
This approach is especially supportive if you are navigating stress, anxiety, or emotional overwhelm. It can also help in recognizing and softening long-held patterns that keep you feeling stuck, while building resilience and new ways of relating to yourself and others.

Consultation for Chronic Pain & Mind-Body Healing 50-min

This consultation offers a gentle, collaborative space to explore the mind–body connection in relation to chronic pain. Together we will look at how stress, emotions, and the nervous system may be shaping your physical experience. The session may include body awareness practices, guided reflection, and simple regulation tools that help you begin to shift patterns of tension, reduce reactivity, and find moments of ease.

This is not about “pushing through” or fixing yourself — it’s about learning to listen to your body with compassion and curiosity. Whether you are living with long-term pain, stress-related symptoms, or unexplained physical discomfort, these consultations can help you begin to understand your pain in new ways and discover strategies for more comfort and resilience.
Packages (4 or 8 sessions)
My package options are created to gently support you with steady care and consistency on your healing path. You’re welcome to choose from 1, 4 or 8 sessions — whatever feels right for you in this season. Packages give us a chance to spend dedicated time together, going deeper into self-discovery, nervous system regulation, and skill-building at a pace that feels safe and sustainable. These offerings are not just about scheduling sessions — they’re about making sure you feel held and supported along the way. Each package is an invitation to create space for your growth, while knowing you don’t have to walk this journey alone.
Note: These services are offered as coaching/consulting, not psychotherapy, until I complete my Master’s degree and state licensure.
My Book
For anyone longing to re-own the forgotten, exiled parts of your being — through the doorway of story
"NAKED" by Inga Middleton
NAKED is a raw, poetic exploration of what it means to survive when life stops making sense.
The title itself is a metaphor — for the feeling of being painfully exposed, vulnerable, and unprotected. The way many of us feel in deep emotional suffering.
It tells the truth most people avoid:
about pain, isolation, emptiness, and the desperate search for meaning.

I wrote this book after I recovered from clinical depression — a time when I thought I might never feel alive again. Through fictional storytelling rooted in deep psychological insight, NAKED speaks to the inner parts we often silence or abandon.
It doesn’t just offer resonance — it offers a path toward healing.

It’s a blend of fantasy fiction and self-help, meaning it won’t give you a step-by-step plan — but it will offer healing through its characters and their journeys.

You are not broken.
You are not alone.
